Wellness Is All About Balance And Being In Touch With How You Feel: Mira Kapoor

The first step to wellbeing isn’t what is outside, it is being in touch with how you feel. It is a relationship you as an individual have with the environment outside," says Mira Kapoor

Since the advent of the covid-19 pandemic, health and wellness has become a household topic more than ever. People have started investing into their health, have started realising that their physical and mental well-being is as important as anything else in their lives.

Speaking at BW Businessworld’s, Festival of Wellbeing, Angel Investor and wellness enthusiast Mira Kapoor said, "We hear about health and healthcare but we forget about wellbeing. It is just a bent of mind." For her, being healthy is "a state of mind, a continuous state of feeling well."

When asked about her wellness mantra, Kapoor said, "It’s always been about one word - balance. Going in a particular direction, in an extreme manner, has its own consequences. Even eating too healthy all the time has its consequences. It could lead to mental fatigue and frustration. It’s all about balance."

Kapoor believes that one of the dominant trends in today's definition of wellbeing is "looking outwards" and trying to find something to experiment with, be it a new doctor or even a new diet to follow or a new super food. However, she feels that amidst all this, we sometimes forget to listen to ourselves. "Craving is actually a deficiency your body has. The first step to wellbeing isn’t what is outside, it is being in touch with how you feel. It’s a relationship you as an individual have with the environment outside," she added.

Talking about the reliability of the content she creates, Kapoor said, "My attempt at creating content has never been forceful, it is raw. I try to be as authentic and genuine as I can. I would never endorse something which I don't believe in. My views have come from the belief that I have cultivated over years of my own experience."

She also expressed her intentions to be more useful in the field of wellness. She also said, "I am hoping that I could have a more tangible impact on real people in terms of wellness, in a far more accessible way. Something that they can utilise on a daily basis or experience- a wellness centre where you can experience or taste the magic of instant medicines."

Expressing the concerns she has regarding the wellness-related content out there these days, Kapoor said, "A creator has to be very transparent with the fact that whether he/she are just enthusiasts or an expert. You have to be honest with your audience. The audience is quite intelligent to know who is authentic and genuine." She also advised the audience to be mindful of the people they are following on social media and whether they should take their advice or not.
