The Nutrition Science - Promoting A More Sustainable Diet

Focusing on what you’re eating helps you understand where your food came from and how it will nourish your body

The world has become more food-savvy. We are now focusing on food at the holistic level. It is not about looking a certain way anymore but about feeling healthy and at ease in our mind, body and soul.

Eating habits and patterns have changed worldwide and as a society, we are looking at diet in terms of nutrition. The idea is to maintain a sustainable diet that helps your body in the long run. This includes eating well and supplementing our food with nutrients that we might otherwise miss.

At the most basic level, nutrition is important for everyone in today’s life because it provides us with the source of energy that we require in our day-to-day life and the nutrients we need to strengthen our immunity.

Promoting and maintaining a sustainable diet is crucial because it impacts our strength, performance and recovery. Not only is the type of food important but also the sports nutrition that makes up for any deficiencies.

Here are a few tips on maintaining a sustainable diet -

1. Mindful eating - One of the simplest things you can do to eat more sustainably is to practice mindful eating. Focusing on what you’re eating helps you understand where your food came from and how it will nourish your body. Besides this, eating regularly helps you tune in to your hunger signals and understand what is your need and resize your meals accordingly. This not only helps us eat better but also reduces food waste.

2. Eat local - Every region produces food that is in sync with its geography and weather. Therefore, look for fresh produce sources locally. This will help you understand where your food comes from and ensure that you eat fresh.

3. Add variety - We are creatures of habit and in doing so we often fall into the pattern of comfort food eating. Therefore, be conscious of what you are eating and introduce greater variety in your diet. This will keep you healthy and also a sustainable effect on the planet.

4. Additional nutrition - Sports Nutrition is no longer just for athletes. It is a way to nourish your body with nutrients besides your food. Applying and seeking proper nutrition knowledge to a practical daily eating plan can help you fuel increased physical activity, and lead a healthier life.

A sustainable diet is about eating holistically ensuring your and the planet’s health.
