Practise Shirshasana Like Shilpa Shetty To Reduce Stress

Shirshasana, also known as headstand, is a yoga pose in which you stand upside down on top of your head

Life is full of tension these days, and due to stress, one has to deal with back, shoulder, arm and head aches. Renowned Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, who is known for her fitness, practises Shirshasana and says that this yogasana helps in clearing the mind and keeping oneself relaxed. Along with this, this asana also strengthens the core, shoulders and arms. This increases the quality of hair as well.

Benefits of Shirshasana

Shirshasana, also known as headstand, is a yoga pose in which you stand upside down on top of your head. This asana has the potential to dramatically improve physical and mental health as well as one's wellbeing. Due to its many benefits, it is one of the main poses in Hatha Yoga and is also known as the "King of Asanas". Its physiological effects can be felt throughout the body.

It stimulates the activity of the pineal gland, hypothalamus and pituitary gland. This helps in better functioning and coordination of all the endocrine glands. Also, the asana improves the body's ability to maintain homeostasis through stimulation of the nervous system.

Steps to do it

Kneel and focus. Bend and rest your head on the yoga mat.

Shift your weight down to your torso and gently lift your legs up.

As the first leg rises, the other will slowly follow.

Place your hands with palms near your head. It serves as a support for the head.

Make sure your body is straight.

Hold this position for a few seconds to begin.

Practice breathing by inhaling and exhaling slowly in this pose.
