Most people do not pay attention to oral health. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), about half of the world's population is suffering from oral diseases (decayed teeth, gums and oral cancer). These cases are increasing every year. Doctors say that there is a risk of many diseases due to poor oral health.

For good health, it is also necessary to take care of the health of the teeth. Healthy teeth help in maintaining the ability to chew food. Teeth also maintain the shape of the face and surrounding tissues.

Experts say that poor oral health can have many harmful effects on health. People who have gingivitis and periodontal disease are also at risk of heart disease. The bacteria associated with gum infection can enter the blood through the mouth and travel through the blood vessels, increasing the risk of heart disease.

Maintaining good oral health requires a few simple steps. Most of the people know about these steps, but do not follow them properly. Everyone should follow a routine of brushing, flossing and rinsing every day. Brushing twice a day is the first step towards good oral health. Also, it should be ensured that the bristles of the brush are not damaged. Second brush should be used after every six months.

Flossing is very important for oral health. This removes the dirt stuck in between the teeth. Due to which rotting stays away. Flossing must be done once before sleeping at night. Rinsing after meals or snacks maintains the pH level of the mouth.

Any habit like chewing tobacco, smoking can damage your teeth. That's why one should be very responsible towards food. One should not go to the dentist only if there is a problem. Rather, regular dental checkups should be done.
