How To Protect Children's Skin And Hair During Monsoon

With the arrival of the monsoon season, it's essential for parents to take extra care of their children's skin and hair

The increased humidity and moisture during this time can lead to various skin and hair problems. To help parents navigate these challenges, we reached out to Abhishek Pandey, the founder and CEO of Adorica, a renowned baby care brand. Pandey shared his expert advice on how to protect children's skin and hair during the monsoon season.

Maintain Proper Hygiene:

Pandey emphasized the importance of maintaining proper hygiene during the monsoon season. He advised parents to bathe their children regularly with lukewarm water, using mild and gentle baby soaps or cleansers. Regular bathing helps in keeping the skin clean and prevents infections caused by excessive sweating and dirt accumulation.

Moisturize Regularly:

The increased humidity during the monsoon season can make the skin prone to dryness. Pandey recommended using a good quality moisturizer specifically formulated for babies and children. Applying a moisturizer after bathing helps to lock in moisture and prevent dry and itchy skin.

Protect Against Mosquitoes:

Mosquito-borne diseases are a common concern during the monsoon season. Pandey advised using a safe and effective mosquito repellent to protect children from mosquito bites. He suggested using natural repellents or those containing DEET in mild concentrations, as recommended by paediatricians.

Keep Hair Clean and Dry:

Pandey highlighted the importance of keeping children's hair clean and dry during the monsoon. Excessive moisture can lead to fungal infections and dandruff. He recommended washing the hair with a mild shampoo at least twice a week and thoroughly drying the hair afterward to prevent fungal growth.

Dress Appropriately:

Choosing the right clothing for children during the monsoon is crucial. Pandey suggested dressing children in loose-fitting, lightweight cotton clothing that allows their skin to breathe. Avoid synthetic materials as they can cause excessive sweating and discomfort.

Foot Care:

Children's feet are prone to fungal infections during the monsoon due to prolonged exposure to dampness. Pandey advised parents to ensure their children wear clean, dry socks and shoes to keep their feet protected. Regularly cleaning and drying their feet can also help prevent fungal growth.

Stay Hydrated:

Pandey stressed the importance of keeping children hydrated during the monsoon season. Drinking an adequate amount of water helps maintain healthy skin and hair. Encourage your child to drink water frequently, even if they don't feel thirsty.

Pandey concluded by saying, "The monsoon season can be challenging for children's skin and hair, but with the right care and precautions, parents can protect their little ones from potential problems. Prioritizing hygiene, using suitable skincare products, and following these tips will ensure that children enjoy the rains without any health concerns."

As the monsoon rains pour, it's vital for parents to heed these expert suggestions and safeguard their children's skin and hair from the seasonal challenges. By doing so, they can ensure their little ones stay healthy, happy, and protected throughout this rainy season.
