Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Amma) —spiritual leader, humanitarian and visionary—was born on 3rd October, 1953 in a remote coastal village in Kerala

Today - 3rd October, 2023, India and people from all around the globe are celebrating Amma’s 70th birthday. Amidst 5 lakh people in the audience with representatives from 193 countries, Amma shared her beautiful thoughts and overall vision on this very special day. She spoke of the brief interval between life and death. Spoke of good actions meaning performing duties towards nature and fellow human beings. She believes nature is a synonym of patience. She beautifully spoke of how friendship blossoms when people embrace disagreements and criticism with an open heart. Effective coexistence comes out of friendship. She also emphasized about giving up ego else we live against the law of nature.

Our Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi Ji sent a message which said, “I offer a heartfelt Namaskaram to Amma, Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, a symbol of service and spirituality. On her 70th birthday, I extend my warm wishes for Amma's health and well-being. I pray that Amma’s boundless compassion and unwavering dedication, which have positively impacted lives worldwide through her tireless service and humanitarian endeavours, may continue to flourish. I extend my congratulations to all those fortunate enough to have been in Amma's presence, including her disciples. My best wishes go out to each and every one of you. For more than three decades, I have cherished a close bond with Amma, particularly during significant moments such as the earthquake in Kachchh [Gujarat]. I am deeply grateful for the moments I have shared with Amma, notably during her 60th birthday celebration in Amritapuri.”

He went on to say that, “I fervently wish I could have been present to relish and partake in today's celebrations with all of you. Amma's compassionate smile and affection, then and now, continue to bring me immense joy. Moreover, over the past decade, Amma's initiatives and influence have expanded globally, enriching the lives of countless individuals and empowering them. In August of the previous year, I had the privilege of inaugurating Amrita Hospital in Faridabad, Haryana. Words alone cannot adequately convey the profound impact of Amma's presence and benevolence; it must be experienced first-hand. Allow me to reiterate what I expressed about Amma at that time: she is the embodiment of love, compassion, sacrifice, and service. She carries the spiritual heritage of our nation. A distinctive hallmark of Amma's service lies in her unwavering commitment to serve not only her native land but also the world at large by establishing institutions. Consistently, she has set higher standards and reached new heights in various domains, including healthcare, education, care for the underprivileged, and social welfare. Today, Amma stands as a pioneering figure among those who took the lead in successfully implementing cleanliness initiatives across the nation. She contributed one billion rupees towards constructing toilets in villages situated along the banks of the River Ganga, thereby revitalizing the drive for cleanliness. Just a few days ago, the Indian Parliament passed the ‘The Narisakti Vandan Adhiniyam - Women Reservation Bill.’ As India advances with a focus on women-led development, inspirational figures like Amma take the lead in promoting a development paradigm led by women. I hold the utmost confidence that Amma's followers will persist in their efforts to promote peace, progress, and encouragement worldwide. I extend my heartfelt wishes to Amma on her 70th birthday. Her continued dedication to humanity will undoubtedly inspire us all. May she continue her service to humanity in this remarkable manner, bestowing upon us, love and blessings. With this aspiration, I conclude my message, extending my warmest regards to Amma on her special day!”

This gathering also provided a spiritually enriching experience, featuring a range of activities that embody Amma's guiding principles and global contributions. The event encompassed inspirational discourses, a serene meditation session led by Amma, heartfelt World Peace Prayers, and the launch of new publications by Mata Amritanandhamayi Math, offering profound insights into Amma's teachings.
