Diabetes is called a progressive disease which means it will get worst with time, this thought causes a lot of stress to the person

All the decisions taken by a human have an emotional side to them, many of the time this emotion is STRESS. The restlessness caused by stress is anxiety. This anxiety can further enhance stress and the loop continue.

Diabetes is called a progressive disease which means it will get worst with time, this thought causes a lot of stress to the person. Uncontrolled diabetes will start showing its bad effects on the body very soon and this “progressive disease” nightmare comes true to the person. Hence managing diabetes and managing stress are just 2 sides of a coin. Let’s design some workable strategies to manage both diabetes and stress simultaneously.

1. Learn more about Diabetes – Get connected to a good Educator

Knowledge is the first step toward taking control of your health. When you have type 2 diabetes, one of the most common sources of stress is not knowing enough about your condition. Unknown things are frightening, there are many YouTube channels that can provide a basic understanding of diabetes, watch them. The more you learn about diabetes, the more confident you will be in managing it. Diabetes is a lifestyle-related disorder it can be managed well, remember this always.

2. Manage discipline – manage your action

Once you have gained enough knowledge about diabetes then now it’s time to bring that into practice. One of the most important parts is dietary discipline. Your diabetes will come under control as soon as you manage your diet this will give a sense of control to you and your stress will reduce.

3. Physical activity can Relieve Stress

Exercise is well known for its ability to reduce stress. Exercise provides a sense of well-being and may alleviate stress symptoms. Consider what types of exercise help you relieve stress. You can let off steam with vigorous exercise, recharge with a hike, or unwind with a relaxing mind-body activity such as yoga or tai chi. You'll feel better after that. Exercise does more than just help you deal with stress. It can help you lose weight and lower your blood pressure.

4. Other Stress-Relieving Strategies

Try the following to help you manage your stress and diabetes:

● Music - Relaxing music can help you cope with anxiety and depression and as lower your blood pressure. Find soothing music, put on your headphones, and unwind. You can create playlists of favorite stress-relieving songs so they're ready when you need them. Keep them separate from the workout music that motivates you to exercise.

● Hobbies - Get rid of stress by forgetting about it. Get lost in your favorite hobby. Do something relaxing, such as reading or painting.

5. Discuss Your Stressors with Someone

Don't keep your emotions bottled up inside. If you don't want to talk to a family member or close friend, there are counselors and clergy who can offer advice and support.

6. Maintain a Positive Attitude

When things appear to be going wrong, it is always easier to focus on the negative rather than the positive. Find something positive in every aspect of your life: work, family, friends, and health. Thinking about the positive aspects of life can help you get through difficult times.

7. Avoid shift changes and irregular working hours

It is a major concern if your job requires a lot of outstation meetings or conference calls that go beyond standard times. As a diabetic, this can cause significant changes in your daily eating, sleeping, and medication routines. Avoid taking on work that requires you to frequently change your work shift timings.
