Dr. M. Srinivas To Head AIIMS, New Delhi

Dr. M. Srinivas, Dean, ESIC Medical College & Hospital, Hyderabad has been appointed as the new Director of All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi

Dr. Srinivas, who was a professor in the Department of Pediatric Surgery at AIIMS-Delhi before he joined the ESIC Hospital and Medical College in Hyderabad in 2016, has been officially appointed as the new Director of AIIMS, New Delhi. He was currently posted as the Dean at the ESIC hospital in Hyderabad. The appointment of Dr. Srinivas is for a period of five years with effect from the date of assumption of charge of the post, or till attaining the age of 65 years, or until further orders, whichever is the earliest. As per reports, the other contender for the post was Dr Sanjay Behari, Director of Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Trivandrum. 

Dr. Srinivas has succeeded Dr. Randeep Guleria, whose second extension of tenure has come to an end today. Dr. Guleria received an extension for the post of Director AIIMS Delhi twice since his appointment as the director on 28 March 2017. Dr. Srinivas will be using his experience and capability to head AIIMS. His knowledge of medical services through his teaching endeavors and being acquainted with the best medical technology by being the former Dean of ESIC Hospital and Medical College in Hyderabad will surely help him is his new role.
